Can you help?

Published Wed 08 Oct 2025

Hi Members,

We are seeking support for our new "up and coming" sailors for this year's Learn to Sail sessions. You will not be part of the instructor team, but provide support in:

Training boat positioning and retrieval
Moving the boats to the shore and returning them to their allocated park is a time-consuming activity. and if left solely to the instructors, they do not have sufficient time to prepare students for the lesson or properly debrief them at the end of sailing.

Onshore assistance
With the instructors concentrating on activities on the water, assistance is required onshore to:
•    Assist with students returning to shore early
•    Provide advice to students close to shore
•    Talk to interested onlookers and non-sailing family (of students)
•    Assist instructors as required
•    Potentially act as a swimmer to assist with capsized boats
•    Prepare the BBQ for the post-lesson debrief.

Dates for 2025

  • Saturday 25 October
  • Saturday 8 November
  • Saturday 15 November
  • Saturday 22 November
  • Saturday 6 December

Start time from 8.30am onwards - finish around 12 noon

Our new sailors will appreciate your engagement. So if you can help us out, even for 1 day, or know of someone that can, please contact Justine at secretary@beyc.org.au
