Membership

You can become a member of the Bendigo Yacht Club as an individual or as part of a family grouping.

The schedule of annual fees is set at the AGM each year to be as affordable as possible while still covering expenses. There is no joining fee.

Our membership year runs from 01 August to 31 July.  

Bendigo Yacht Club always welcomes new members and offers a flexible range of membership options, including:

• Ordinary Sailing Member (100% of full fee) - ordinary membership giving full access to club facilities with full sailing, boat storage, caravan and camping  rights. Voting rights and caravan rights for those over 18 years of age. Youth Memberships (50% of full fee) and Junior Memberships (25% of full fee) available.
• Concessional Sailing Member (50% of full fee) - ordinary membership giving full access to club facilities with full sailing, boat storage, caravan, camping and voting rights. Open to all holders of blue Commonwealth Pension Concession Cards issued by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans' Affairs. NOT eligible for Concessional Membership are holders of Seniors Cards or yellow, low-income Commonwealth Health Care Cards. 
• Family Sailing Membership (150% of full fee) - Up to 2 adults (partners) and dependent children under 21 years of age in the one family. Ordinary membership gives full access to club facilities with full sailing, boat storage, caravan, and camping rights. Voting rights for those over 18 years of age. 
• Social (Non-Sailing) Member (50% of full fee) - full access to club facilities and voting rights. No sailing, boat storage, caravan or camping rights.
• Special Member - for those who are severely disabled or otherwise disadvantaged. Application to be made in writing to the General Committee. Full access to club facilities. Other rights, conditions and fee to be set on an individual basis by the General Committee. 
• Sailability Member - free membership giving full access to club facilities. No boat storage, caravan, camping or voting rights. No sailing rights except for Sailability events. Only available to Sailability Volunteers.
• Honorary Member - free membership conferred by the General Committe for a period of time. Gives full access to club facilities with full sailing, boat storage, caravan, camping rights. Voting rights (except where Honorary Member is a Short-Term Honorary Member with a membership not exceeding 7 days).
• Life Member - free membership for outstanding service as an office bearer or in officially designated capacities for not less than five 
  years. Coferred by the General Committee and ratified by a General Meeting of members. Gives full access to club facilities with full sailing, boat storage, caravan, camping and voting rights.
• Absentee Membership (25% of full fee) - for a continuous period of not less than 1 year. Application to be made in writing to the General Committee. Entitled to receive copies of the Mainsheet (the club's periodical journal).  May be present on club premises or at functions conducted by the Association under the same conditions as apply to visitors. No other rights including no voting rights.

New membership applications require ratification by the General Committee. Fees and privileges are outlined below. 

Please note: Potential new members may be able to package membership with sail training for a discounted rate in their first year. Contact the Secretary at secretary@beyc.org.au for details.

If you have been a member of a sailing club anywhere in Australia over the past few years, your existing Australian Sailing Number is needed to become a member of the Bendigo Yacht Club.          Can't remember your Australian Sailing Number? Click here.

Instructions for renewal of membership for existing members

Existing members will be sent an email before 1st August each year to enable them to renew their membership. An invoice will be attached to this email.

Our membership year runs from 01 August to 31 July.  Renew before 31 August for the 10% off early bird rate.
